Timberline Church | Feed My Soul: Psalm 46- God Is Our Refuge | Donny Abbott
Series: Feed My Soul
July 26, 2026 | Donny Abbott
In a world filled with uncertainty, fear, and constant noise, Psalm 46 offers a timeless reminder that God remains our unshakable refuge. Even when life feels chaotic and circumstances seem beyond our control, His presence is constant, His strength is sufficient, and His promises never fail. Rather than placing our confidence in changing circumstances, we're invited to anchor our faith in the God who is with us through every storm. As we learn to drink from His life-giving presence instead of the endless stream of fear and distraction around us, we discover a peace that the world cannot provide.
Psalm 46 also calls us to trust God's sovereignty in the battles we cannot win on our own. While our instinct is often to strive, control, and carry burdens that were never ours to bear, God invites us to "be still" and remember that He is the One who fights for His people. Following the example of Jesus, who regularly withdrew to spend time with the Father, we learn that stillness is not passive- it is an act of trust that reorients our hearts toward God. When we rest in His presence, we find the courage to face life's greatest challenges with confidence, knowing that God is our refuge, our stability, and our sovereign King.
