Timberline Windsor | Devoted to Prayer | Blake Barnes
Series: Devoted
October 18, 2026 | Blake Barnes
Learning how to pray like Jesus and understanding that prayer is more than just asking God for things—it’s about building a close, personal relationship with Him. Many people know prayer is important but struggle to enjoy it because of distractions, busyness, or not knowing how to pray. Through the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus teaches us six important things: recognizing God as a loving and compassionate Father, honoring His power and greatness, trusting that His plans are better than ours, asking Him for our daily needs, seeking forgiveness while also forgiving others, and trusting Him to guide us away from temptation. The sermon emphasizes that we don't have to be afraid or hesitant to approach God because He genuinely wants to hear from us. Instead of only turning to prayer when life gets difficult, we should make it a regular part of our lives. The main takeaway is that prayer isn't about saying the perfect words or following a religious routine, but about growing closer to God, trusting Him with everything, and confidently coming to Him as a loving Father who wants a relationship with us.
