Timberline Church | Devoted to the Breaking of Bread | Aaron Hanson

Series: Devoted

October 11, 2026 | Aaron Hanson

The table has always been more than a place to share a meal. It's where memories are made, relationships are strengthened, and a sense of belonging takes shape. Throughout Scripture, the table holds deep significance, especially in the life of Jesus. At the Last Supper, Jesus transformed an ordinary meal into a powerful reminder of God's redemption, connecting the story of Israel's deliverance from Egypt to the ultimate rescue He would accomplish through His death on the cross. When the early church devoted themselves to the breaking of bread, they were embracing something far greater than a religious tradition—they were remembering the sacrifice of Jesus and celebrating the new life found in Him.

Through communion, we're invited to look back and remember what Christ has done, look ahead with hope toward His return, look around at the community of believers gathered together, and look within to examine our own hearts. Whether we're walking through joy, disappointment, uncertainty, or pain, Jesus invites us to meet Him at the table. As we remember His sacrifice and share in the bread and cup, we're reminded that we have been rescued, redeemed, and welcomed into God's family. His invitation remains open, calling us to experience His presence, remember His faithfulness, and live in the hope of what is still to come.
