Timberline Windsor | Devoted to Communion | Blake Barnes

Series: Devoted

October 11, 2026 | Blake Barnes

The sermon “The Breaking of Bread” from the Devoted series explains how communion is more than simply eating bread and drinking juice—it is a meaningful way for Christians to remember Jesus, grow closer to God, and connect with one another. Just as families gather around a dinner table to share meals, stories, and important moments, Jesus invites His followers to gather at His table as one family. The sermon highlights four things we should do when taking communion: look back and remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and the freedom He has given us; look forward to the day Jesus returns and we can be with Him face-to-face; look within and examine our hearts, asking God to reveal areas where we need forgiveness, healing, or surrender; and look around to recognize that we belong to a community of believers who are called to love and support one another. Ultimately, the message reminds us that communion isn't just about remembering what Jesus did for us, but also about remembering who we are because of Him—a family brought together by His love and grace.
