Are You Ready?

by Leigh Ann Dilley on March 16, 2021

I’ve asked this question of you before, but it is time to ask it again. Are you Ready? I love this question because it’s exciting and  it seems to invite the unknown, something new perhaps? It gives an indication something is about to change. It prompts us to be curious because we may to ask: “Ready for what?”

The “are you ready” question seems to have both internal and external consequences. Internal consideration would naturally come first because, after all, it’s a question. A thought process must take place. Possible outcomes or scenarios would be considered. After some thought, a decision would be made, identifying and committing us to our choice.

The external outcomes really depend on the internal decision, don’t they? If the answer is “no, I’m not ready”, then it’s possible nothing would change. Or it’s possible change would take place anyway, with or without us. But if the answer is “yes”; then everything is put into motion. Wait! Slow down! Do we want change?

As Timberline Church pursues the Holy Spirit this season, Women’s Ministry invites you to a live event to answer this question with us: Are you ready to welcome the power of the Holy Spirit? We will learn how to listen, connect and serve the Holy Spirit and each other.

Who is the Holy Spirit and why would we want to welcome His power? We will explore these questions but simply put the Holy Spirit is Christ living in you. Ephesians 1:19-20 Paul says: I pray you understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe in him. This is the same power that Christ from the dead. That’s incredible power! If we had that, life as we know it, could look very different. Would we be ready for that?

Romans 12:1-2 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you.  Let them be a living and holy sacrifice-the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Did you catch it? God will do this work in us and transform our thoughts; but we need to let Him do it. It’s the Holy Spirit, living in us that will help us learn what we need to know about God, His Word, and Spiritual truths.

Would you like to live the best life God has for you? How do we learn about his perfect will for us? Does God still speak to us? How? Can we be better listeners? How do we apply what we learn to our lives?
