Praying Away Fear

Read

Deuteronomy 31:6-8

Joshua 1:2-9

Pray

Lord, there are so many reasons to fear. Everyday it can consume me if I let it. But you didn’t give me a spirit of fear. You gave me YOUR Spirit. So now I lift up my fears to you. I ask that you would set me free of them. I don’t want to hold back or back down from your will for my life because of my fear. I believe that you are with me and I can face the unknown. When you lead me, God, I know I can follow you without fear because, like Moses and Joshua, you will lead me to the place you have promised me. The mountains and the giants I face will fall when I speak your name. Because of your strength, I am more than a conqueror. When I call out your name, I won't be afraid and I’ll walk in faith and courage with you by my side.

Help me to be strong and very courageous, being careful to follow your commands. I will strive to not turn from the right or the left but to always stay on the narrow path with your help. Keep your scriptures in my head and on my tongue. Let me meditate on them day and night, so that I may be careful to do according to all that is written in your word. For then you will make my way prosperous. Then you will give me success. I will not be frightened. I will not be dismayed. For you, Lord, my God, are with me wherever I go. I will be strong and very courageous because you will never leave me nor forsake me. Be forever with me.

I surrender these fears to you today ... (name any fears that are on your mind right now.)

Amen.
