The empowered to connect conference features practical teaching in a safe and supportive community as we work to equip families, churches and professionals to better serve children impacted by adoption and foster care. It features trust-based relational intervention (TBRI) methods developed by Dr. Karen Purvis and Dr. David Cross, to help bring attachment and connection in families. The content is ideal for adoptive and foster parents, those considering adoption or foster care and those who are serving and supporting others, including social workers, agency professionals, church staff and ministry leaders, counselors and therapists.

Learning objectives of the Empowered to Connect Conference:

  • Understand the specific needs of the whole child
  • Provide an in-depth look at the impact of trauma on children
  • Encourage parents to look at their own attachment style and motivation & expectations in helping their child develope secure attachment.
  • Provide a summary of attachment and key attachment research
  • Present an overview of how sensory processing and neurochemistry is affected in children from hard places
  • Offer insights strategies and tools parents need to achieve effective behavioral change in their children while promoting lasting connection and healing.

Empowered to Connect Simulcast Conferences
Every April we offer an opportunity for Foster or Adoptive parents and the professionals who work with children and youth from hard places the opportunity to be encouraged and supported through learning biblically based and results-based Trust-Based-Relational-Intervention. If you're a foster or adoptive parent, you will not want to miss this opportunity! http://empoweredtoconnect.org/conferences/

A Backpack of My Own
Every May we offer Timberline Church attendees the opportunity to support foster and adoptive families and kids by filling a backpack for back-to-school.

May is National Foster Care Month
Each May we reach out to our local Department of Human Services in Larimer County and Weld County to express our appreciation and support for the work that they do for families and children in our community. Contact WeGo@timberlinechurch.org for more information.

Foster, Adoptive and Kinship Support Group
We offer a Support Group for parents. Contact WeGo@timberlinechurch.org for more information.

Family Encouragement and Support
Throughout the year, we reach out to meet needs of our foster, adoptive and kinship Timberline families. One way that we do this is by mailing out a card with a little something to express God's love for them. We want to be available for you. If you're a foster, adoptive or kinship family and you need some encouragement or support, or if you are new to fostering or adoption, we want to know about it! Contact WeGo@timberlinechurch.org.

November is National Adoption Month
Join us for Timberline's Orphan Care Weekend scheduled for November 17/18. This year's emphasis will be Royal Family Kids Camp and other ways to serve!
