Summary

The Elementary Director is responsible for building a team that leads and executes Timberkids weekend and midweek ministry by inspiring others to serve in Timberkids. The Elementary Director will also be responsible for working with the Children’s Pastor to foster an environment conducive to excellence and safety in the Timberkids ministry. Additionally, the Elementary Director will lead curriculum implementation and invest in the development and leadership of volunteers. This role will oversee volunteer orientation and training that includes appropriate placement of volunteers based on their personal gifts and passions. 

General Duties

Ensure that Timberkids weekend and mid-week Elementary programs always maintain the centrality of Jesus by providing oversight of volunteers, curriculums, and programs.

1. Build a Timberkids ministry team

  • Recruit people through the vision of Timberline Church
  • Identify, inspire, train, and appreciate Timberkids volunteers
  • Make sure leaders and rooms are set up and ready to serve for weekend and midweek ministry
  • Consistently cast vision, values, and culture for the volunteer team
  • Help ensure the overall operations of the weekend is meeting all expectations

 

2. Maintain a positive Timberkids environment to establish excellence in the ministry

  • Communicate daily and work with the Children’s Pastor to help reach all listed goals required
  • Balance tasks and relational aspects of the role
  • Lead day-to-day operations of the ministry
  • Commitment to personal development of self through active learning. Initiate personal development and self-awareness
  • Facilitate administrative processes as needed

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Abilities

  • Must exemplify a high level of passion about sharing Timberkids vision with our community
  • Facilitate ongoing training and coaching for volunteers.
  • Ability to stay organized and can maintain administrative duties
  • Oversee Elementary Timberkids budget  

2. Knowledge

  • Clearly understand all Timberkids programs and curriculums, systems, and processes, along with policies and procedures related to volunteerism, partnering with parents, and the ministries of Timberline Church
  • Ready to learn Church Community Builder (CCB), Orange Curriculum, and Microsoft Teams.

3. Skills

  • Effective at conflict management, time management, and coaching skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Maintain composure during stressful situations 

Other:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and including evenings and weekends.
  • Attend weekly staff chapels as well as Timberkid’s staff meetings
  • In the spirit of continuous improvement and serving one another, you may be asked to assist with interim duties or other duties as assigned.
